AI & Generative Media

Overview

About the project

Preparing a usability study to evaluate onboarding using structured video guidance. A/B storyboard prototypes compare UI-only and AI-assisted video approaches, exploring how narrative clarity, pacing and interaction influence user understanding, behaviour and progression through early product tasks.

Challenge

Early onboarding lacks clarity and engagement, with users often failing to complete key actions. The challenge is to translate complex tasks into clear, guided experiences while maintaining user control, and to define a scalable approach where video enhances understanding without adding friction or cognitive load.

Onboarding A: Static UI prompts

Approach

Developed A/B storyboard prototypes comparing static UI prompts with AI-assisted video guidance. Applying structured storytelling, narrative sequencing and pacing principles. Planned moderated usability sessions to observe behaviour, interaction patterns and decision-making, capturing how each approach influences clarity, confidence and task progression.

Onboarding B: AI-assisted video

Outcomes (Hypotheses)

Hypothesise that video-guided onboarding will improve narrative clarity and increase task completion. Expect AI-assisted variants to better adapt to user intent and maintain engagement. Anticipate structured storytelling will reduce cognitive load and support scalable onboarding frameworks that guide consistent, high-quality user experiences.
